Mastered Images vs. Non-Processed Images

flash but background illuminated by spotlights which
imparted a strong yellow cast making the background
appear unnatural. Many photographers provide hundreds
of such images without correcting the background color
imbalance or without providing any other retouch work.

About Photo DVDs for Brides and Fellow Photographers - by
Wedding Photographer John Wilson
I believe providing the digitally
mastered images to my clients on photo DVDs
is a very valuable service and product. This helps to minimize the entry price point for professional wedding
photography and provides the customer the opportunity
to enjoy a vast number of options available from the many
companies which specialize in wedding
album production serving brides. There is no
one photographer who can keep up with all this and readily
offer the variety of styles, colors and wedding album designs
available today. Even if a photographer tried to, the photographer
would be spending more time in post-production and would
have to charge a "middle man" price for his or
her time doing it. This is not necessary when brides
have so many companies available today they can easily work
with to have the wedding album of their dreams produced. So I think photographers should STOP forcing some kind of album packages on brides.
In today's age of digital photography, most brides would rather invest strictly in your photography
& photoshop talent alone; they want the highest quality photography possible by investing in your ORIGINAL WORK which IS the high resolution photo-quality digitally mastered images which have also been retouched and enhanced.
Wedding albums, photographs, wall portraits and other reproductions from your work are a secondary consideration which can easily be created later at the bride's convenience from her professional photo DVD. The bride also has much more creative control
of her album when she has the 13 megapixel digitally
mastered images to change cropping, tilt and
to apply other desired changes (See Gallery
63). Also most newlyweds are often very busy
after the Wedding Day to have to go back and forth with
their photographer to order photographs and albums within
a certain time frame set by the photographer. As a smart consumer, today's bride also knows that if her wedding album ever got lost or damaged, she can easily go to her DVDs to have a new album created. It is also very useful for the bride to have the hi-res photo-quality images when the photographer may relocate to another state, retire or simply go out of business. Once the bride has her DVDs of digitally mastered images of her Wedding Day, she can take her time to select the album of her dreams and order it directly from the album manufacturing & design service or order a higher end album from her pro photographer. If you are a photographer who really wants the bride to order albums from you instead of somewhere else, then compete for her album business! Provide brides your professionally processed images on DVDs and the option to purchase any albums from you. If your albums are very high quality and fairly priced, brides will order their albums from you.

Photo
Above: The gentlemen standing in the far
background appear very yellow because of the ceiling
lights. Your professional photographer should provide
you digitally mastered images on DVDs like we do or
at least correct such color imbalances to professional
standards when you order photographs. Make sure any
photographers you speak with really do provide professional
quality photography like this if you are seeking the
best photography for your Wedding Day.

Photo
Above: Glare on skin should be reduced
or removed entirely. In this case the image was also
treated to convey a classic portrait look. The good
news is the bride and her bridesmaids don't have to
worry about breaking out on the Wedding Day because
every digitally mastered 13 megapixel image on your
DVDs are retouched to help insure everyone looks their
best.

Photo
Above: To ask the gentleman on the left
to move would have taken time and we would have had
to stage the bride and bridesmaids coming back down
the aisle. It was faster and easier to simply remove
the gentleman during processing and retain the genuine
fun and excitement of the bride with her bridesmaids.
Also corrected a bridesmaid's flesh tone, reduced shine
on faces of two bridesmaids and decreased exposure on
bride.

the engagement photo above, flesh tone needed to be
corrected and shine on skin reduced. We also include
digitally mastered images of your engagement and bridal
portrait sessions on DVDs. Anybody getting a little
sunburned before a session or the Wedding Day can easily be cleared up during processing.
